I bought this bag my last year in school and it was great for carrying books and notebooks, pens, water bottles, flashdrives, and all those other things students carry around.

Then life got weird.

Over the past two years this bag and I have been to sea. I've carried it across Europe. We've explored the caves and jungles of Cambodia, and rowed down the fjords of Denmark. This bag has become one of my most trusted possessions.

When emptied it can be squeezed into a ball and tossed in a corner, or stuffed in a larger bag. It's roomy and comfortable, machine washable.

My criticisms are few and forgivable but worth mentioning. The zipper on the inside pocket broke just a few short months after buying the bag and hasn't worked since. As one reviewer also mentioned, the forward metal loop (the loop that connects the strap to the bag where it hangs under your arm, depending on how you wear it) twists lenghtwise. This will not cause the loop to open, but it wears into the canvas of the bag itself. It's not a huge issue, I've had this bag loaded to the brim and walked miles in it, but after over two years I expect the canvas to tear very soon. It's frayed about 60% of the way through.

The buckle on the strap squeaks a little on occasion when walking. It has gotten on my nerves from time to time, but for the most part it doesn't squeak, and when it does a simple shifting of the bag solves the problem.

But seriously, I've never had a bag put up with so much and be so useful.

It's not waterproof and not the best bag for a laptop. My laptop fits nicely in the bag and I have carried it many times, but it isn't padded or waterproof and as a result isn't the best bag if you carry your laptop regularly without a laptop sleeve.

Despite all that I highly recommend this bag. I mean, this is just a green canvas bag and I could write another 20 pages on how trusted it's been. We've been to museums in Paris and ridden elephants in Asia, soaked in the rough waters of the Atlantic and carried groceries home from the store.

This is a great bag.

I am very impressed with the quality of this bag. I use it mainly for carrying my things to work and back. It easily holds my lunch, drinks and cd's. Would recommend this bag to anyone and will most likely deal with this company again.

Awesome bag! A man bag, this aint no girlie-man bag. I bought this to tote my work gear, lunch bag and respiratory therapy stuff, and odds n ends. Plenty of space and tough enough to just toss anywhere. Nice thick shoulder strap for toting along on hikes and vacations. Easy to get to your junk on the move. Army Universe was quick to get this to me I ordered on a Saturday and recieved on following Friday.

I got this as a gift for my boyfriend to replace his old one which was very similar, so needless to say he liked it. It seems pretty sturdy and is able to carry all his books. As long as you're okay with velcro where the flap connects to the bag, there shouldn't be a problem.

I ordered this last Christmas(07) for my husband. He has used it daily since then. It looks just as it did when it was purchased. He uses it to cart all kinds of things around, from flashlights and some tools, to cell phone and other personal items. This bag will stand up to regular use, and the adjustable strap is very comfortable to use either over the shoulder or across the chest for more security. Would buy again.

I gave this to my daughter for Christmas and she says it is a perfect bag for her. Her laptop fits in it along with her normal purse items and books. She loves all the pockets and the easy access to the inside. At the price I paid, it was a great gift!

I am a person who frequently pays top dollar for items of high quality.
Though I certainly wish the material quality of this bag was a bit better, it is still more than worth the price.
I have several bags that I use for college, from makers ranging from 'Fossil' to 'Kakadu', but this one gets twice as much use as all the rest.
It will hold my computer, notebook, and textbook perfectly.
Extremely valued by me, I will most certainly buy another in the near future.

8.) Perfect as a diaper bag

I purchased this as a diaper bag to use for my daughter and new son. The front pockets are ideal for diapers and the side pockets can hold all manner of things you need to carry around for a 3 year old and a newborn. The inner pocket is huge and perfect for toys and a wallet so you don't have to carry a diaper bag and a purse. The material is very strong, I look forward to actually being able to use this bag for a long time and even after I don't need it as a diaper bag anymore. The price is perfect considering I've owned $20 bags that are meant to be diaper bags and they just fall apart on you after a couple of months, I don't see that happening with this one and on another plus side it is unisex so my husband won't feel silly wearing it. The color is nice also. Very happy with my purchase.

This lightweight and rugged "messenger bag" -- the famous Jack Bauer bag from the hit series "24" -- is spacious and versatile. As a adjunct college professor, I can carry a whole course load of material easily: textbook, grade book, assignments, notes, and my laptop, AC cords and all. I've owned several bags costing more, but this tops them all. This is a terrific value for the money.

With this bag, you'll show everybody that "you know Jack" when it comes to hauling you stuff and saving cash.

Love this bag it has served me well over the last month at work. I work in ship repair so my bag has seen a lot of use through tight, dirty, and active work areas where it is exposed to harsh working environments. It has held up nicely with no signs of wear, it is however very dirty.

The bag has easy to access (roomy) compartments and it doesn't feel cheap, but rugged. The side pockets also hold bottled water securely (20oz).

There is only one thing I did not like about the bag. The main flap only has velcro to secure it shut "Damn it" and maybe some sort of buckle or button would have improved the design but this is by know means a deal breaker. The velcro, however, does provide quick access to your nine millimeter if you happen to encounter a few Tangos while you are out and about saving tens of thousands of lives from imminent doom.

I do worry sometimes about the contents falling out depending on where I am working but this has not happened. I used this bag at Disneyland a couple weeks ago and nothing fell out while I was on the roller coasters so thats a good sign.

I have recommended this bag to friends and family and I will probably order a couple more for backups because knowing my luck I will someday wear it out and want another one only to find out it has been discontinued.

I highly recommend this bag but if you are like me I also carry my laptop in it. This bag does not have a laptop sleeve or any sort of protection for one so be sure to get some protection. LoL sounds like a condomn ad.

This bag was a great buy. Rather than dropping twice that cash at a department store, this simple but durable bag really does the trick. I am able to fit 2/3 books along with my laptop and charger, no problem. I would caution you to use a laptop case, there is no padding to speak of. A cheap sollution is to slide you computer into a FedEx bubble pack, it gets the job done. Also be warned that the top of the bag does not have a zipper, but this hasn't been an issue for me.

This is the one and only Jack Bauer messenger bag/man-purse/murse.

I like it a lot and I have been using it as my shooting range bag, but don't expect to overstuff it...however the side pockets are pretty nifty...good for extra magazines etc...I would keep the weight to a minimum since the shoulder strap is not padded...but certainly a must have for Jack Bauer fans at a great price.

I am an artist, I work for corporate America, but I don't dress like it. I had a fancy leather side bag to keep all of my stuff in but didn't like it. This bag is simple. It holds my lunch, my coffee, a few magazines, Ipod. I'm happy. The best thing about it is you can wash it if you have to. Also, the price is great. If anything ever happens to it, buy another one.

So maybe it's not the highest quality bag but for $20 you can't beat it. It should last much longer than you would expect from such a low price. I just needed a bag to carry junk (notebooks, lunch, change of cloths) back and forth to work. This is nothing fancy but has a bunch of pockets and is big enough for everything I need. Very happy with the bag.

It's an outstanding bag for the price. Heavyweight material and stitching that seems built to last. Two outer pockets with clever hidden snaps. To more pockets protected by the flap, which velcros shut. And a roomy interior with an extra zippered pocket inside.

Two small criticisms: the bag is more shapeless, lumpier than the photo suggests. And while I like that the fasteners are hidden and obviate the need for annoying straps, neither the snaps nor the velcro are as strong as they ought to be.

I use this bag to carry my laptop and accessories. The two front pockets are perfect for cords and external hard drives. It was exactly what I expected it to be. I just throw on my laptop sleeve and shove it in the bag and go!

I purchased this bag for two reasons. First, I am a Jack Bauer-24 addict. Second, I wanted a bag larger than my purse that I could take on shopping trips. This is perfect for trips to the flea market and local yard sales. The bag is actually larger overall than I expected. It can hold a LOT of stuff! The shoulder strap is wide, about 2 inches, so carrying a full bag all afternoon isn't a pain. I experience back and neck pains when I carry a regular tote bag of stuff and this bag solves that issue nicely. I can wear it cross-body or just over a shoulder and it doesn't cause problems for my neck. I especially like the smaller pockets on each end of this bag, perfect for carrying two water bottles at a time. They even have snap closures for carrying smaller items.
This messenger bag was just what I was looking for. I think even Jack would approve!

This bag is very sturdy, from reading other reviews it seems like this wouldn't be worth the money, but when I first received it I was very impressed with the look, design, ruggedness and sturdiness of this bag. My advice is to not take someone else's review as a basis for buying a product, try it out and find out for yourself

I've had this bag for about three months now and pretty much adore it. I take it back and forth with me to work, it's a good size to hold snacks, purse, couple packets of paper, and the front pockets work well for my cell phone and chargers. I even keep my keys in the side pockets.

A few things I'd change, though. It's completely open, so I'm glad I don't travel by foot or bus or somewhere crowded where someone could just reach in and pull things out. And the one side of the handle likes to twist the bracket holding it to the bag, I'm afraid the metal is going to bend at some point and open so that I'd have to find a new bracket. Oddly, just the one side does that.

This bag is very roomy with a good number of pockets and slots for various items that you might carry. The structure is very pliable, so it takes the shape of what you are packing. It appears to be very sturdy. I have packed it with a couple of fairly heavy items and there doesn't appear to be any significant stress.

I carry a brief case for work, but I use this bag to carry stuff back and forth from office to home. It is just what I wanted.

I received this bag the day of the estimated order, which is a plus. The color is great, looks just like the picture. I wanted this bag bag because I want something different for school. I use a laptop, and it fits thank god. The bag is slightly heavy while carrying the laptop (nothing else is in it). I have a feeling that things will be cramped in the bag, there's not that much room from what I can tell. Other than that, I am so happy with this purchase. I love it!

While it most definitely is a decent bag with no deal-breaking flaws it must be noted that it could stand to be better. The shoulder strap can dig into your shoulder, an inner pocket is on the side of the wearer, and causing an uncomfortable bulge to press into the body should anything be put into it. The pockets on the sides are just barely large enough for a typical-sized metal water bottle, and the Velcro on the bag used to secure it shut can be downright ineffective, as it only covers so much of the larger Velcro strap on the bag's flap itself. About a year after owning it, the velcro finally gave out and will no longer bond over a large area. Finally the point where the shoulder strap and the bag itself meet isn't connected by a metal button acting as a swiveling joint, but merely reinforced and connected straight through, offering little flexibility with your body while moving.

It's fair for what you pay for it, and it is 100% cotton, but you may want to spring for something a hair more comfortable and reliable, or at least something with more well-placed pockets and something that snaps it securely closed.

This bag is alright, but I'm pretty surprised by how overrated it is here.

Good:
Cheap, seems decently durable, good size

Bad:
The stitching on the bottom is really bunched up, making it have an almost more round than square base. This makes the bag sit a little strangely...
The Velcro on the base of the bag is far too high, making it useless unless the bag is completely stuffed full of junk.
Finally, the top flap doesn't completely cover the main opening, allowing rain to easily enter and pool in the bag. Not at all weather-proof.

That said, these are all pretty small gripes, but do definitely prevent me from REALLY liking the bag.

I can see how this might be a useful bag for some. For everyday use, I think it's fairly heavy (especially with a book or two inside), and flops around/flops open. The color was a medium to dark grey, rather than the dark green/olive in the description. There were also two snags in the fabric on the front - I'm sure they're inevitable, but I'd prefer to start clean and do my own snagging.

This bag, while great at what it does, is not very durable. The straps fray at the metal brackets and something will eventually give... my strap just broke today. The metal bracket has a joint that is unprotected and wears away at the fabric of the bag or the strap.

If you're looking for something that lasts more than a year, avoid this product.

At first I loved this bag. It was exactly the size I thought it would be hand carried everything I needed just right. It wasn't "perfect", but nothing ever is. After the first and second day of use I'd have rated it a 4.5/5 stars. Then the third day I noticed that all the running around with the bag had caused the dye to rub off on my shorts, temporarily staining them. I was, understandably, upset. After washing my shorts and the bag, the shorts were fine but the bag had basically run and the dye had come out of the bag in streaks. This lead to an almost 'camouflage' look but with the wrong colors - the color of the bag, a faded version of that color, and an off white (the natural color of the fabric. The bag was washed with just soap in cold water, so that to be screams 'bad'. I'll be returning this item for a full refund. I'll give it another chance with the replacement, but I'm going to soak it in cold water overnight before using.

Well the bag looks good and the size/pockets are perfect but the material is very rough. I remember walking around with it and getting my legs bruised. I got it washed a few times and then the thread came off. Since then I have not used the bag. Must give it one more try.
